Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Elchin Afandiyev will participate in the Extraordinary Session of the Islamic summit conference on the cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Shareef in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Pakistan's Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Aqil Nadeem told APP that Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid will participate in the ministerial-level meeting of the OIC, the outcome which will be forwarded to the leaders of the OIC member states tomorrow.
Nadeem expressed the confidence that the Jakarta Declaration, to be issued at the conclusion of the summit, would prove a milestone in the independence of Palestine.
Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi highlighted Indonesia's commitment to strengthen cooperation with the West African country, especially in the field of agriculture and other developmental fields, during a bilateral meeting with Gambian Foreign Minister Neneh Gaye on the sidelines of the OIC summit in Jakarta on Sunday.
OIC SummitThe upcoming summit would also be attended by representatives of 3 observer countries, 4 worldwide quartet organizations and 5 permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
The summit is aimed at addressing the developments in Al- Quds and the scheme by Israel to change the demographic reality of the city and erase its Islamic and Arab identity by building and expanding settlements.
"The Egyptian participation in this important Islamic forum stresses the historical role played by Egypt to support the Palestinian issue over decades to help the Palestinian people regain their legitimate rights and build their independent state with Al Quds as its capital", said the spokesman.
He stressed that those who have settled on Palestinian land around the Al-Aqsa mosque and politicians who support them are in clear breach of worldwide law.
