HYDERABAD: Aziz Reddy, 37, was involved in over 21 cases in Hyderabad, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh. An ITI pass-out from Musheerabad, his crime career was interesting: he was a sharpshooter, bodyguard, weapon supplier, mafia leader, and owner of a hotel in Jakarta. Hailing from a small village, Thirigandlapally in Marrigudem mandal in Nalgonda district, Aziz moved to Musheerabad after the death of his father and stayed at Parsigutta.
While studying, he befriended Mohd Naseer, Abdul Raheem and Mohd Asif of Bholakpur and . embraced Islam and changed his name to Abdul Aziz. During the 1990 communal riots, Aziz, along with others, allegedly murdered one Balan of Indiranagar on February 20, 1990.
He then fled to Saudi Arabia and returned to Hyderabad after five months and continued his illegal activities. In 1991, Reddy went to Mumbai and worked as a bodyguard to Gurunath Koth, a Shiv Sena trade union leader. Subsequently, he became the bodyguard of Dhananjaya Shetty, owner of the famous Chandini Bar and then got in touch with the Rajan gang and soon became its prominent member. He was involved in 17 murder cases in Mumbai. Once in Rajan gang, he became a Hindu don, something Rajan's gang was known for. Reddy was arrested by the Mumbai police in 1998 and lodged at Arthur Road jail for three years. In 2001, he was released on bail and he then went to Bangkok and joined the Rajan gang again. Sources said he used to take care of the mandrax manufacturing factory of Chhota Rajan in Bathan, Indonesia.
Later, Reddy and his friend Santosh Shetty set up a hotel 'Indian Mantra' in Jakarta and invested about `20 crore. At the same time, he used to extort money from businessmen in Hyderabad.
