Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno met with President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
In the meeting, Jokowi told the governor and the deputy governor to focus on the upcoming 2018 Asian Games, said Anies.
"Jakarta will be one of the hosting cities for the 2018 Asian Games. We have to be prepared for that. There are many details to think about," Anies added. "We talked about sidewalks in regards to the Games. We want to ensure that international communities will have a good experience here, which includes having well-managed sidewalks."
The discussion, he added, then expanded to Anies' plan to build a stadium in Jakarta so that it will be "an example of a world-class stadium," Anies did not elaborate.
Aside from that, he added, they discussed how to finish the city's long-awaited mass rapid transit (MRT) on time, as well as how to relieve traffic congestion.
Asked whether they also discussed the Jakarta Bay reclamation project, Anies said they did not touch on the topic.
