An integrated map comprising various mass public transportation lines has been launched by a group calling itself the Greater Jakarta Transportation Discussion Forum (FDTJ).
The map, which took five weeks to complete, connects 105 Transjakarta routes, seven commuter line routes, long-distance trains, and the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Skytrain.
"The cartography team is working to add the newest public transportation routes, the light rail transit [LRT] and the mass rapid transit [MRT]," said Adriansyah Yasin, a spatial planning and development student, who co-founded the FDTJ along with other public transportation enthusiasts in September 2014.
The LRT and MRT are expected to begin commercial operations in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
The map is an updated version of the previous one, launched in July. It includes information on the nearest Transjakarta bus stops to commuter train stations, Transjakarta bus routes during public holidays, city landmarks and estimated walking times between train stations and the nearest bus stop.
Adriyansyah said that he expected the map to help passengers understand Jakarta's public transportation routes and assist the transportation bodies in their attempts to integrate various modes of transportation in Greater Jakarta. (wit)
