The Jakarta Dance Carnival is set to return to Taman Ismail Marzuki in Central Jakarta on Saturday.
Organized by the Indonesia Dance Community, the free event themed "Dance With Me" is being held to commemorate National Education Day that falls on May 2 and celebrate the World Dance Day, which falls on April 29.
Among the scheduled events are a dance carnival, dance performances, a photography exhibition, tutorial sessions, film screenings and a bazaar.
In an official statement, the organizer stated that the event aimed to invite the public to love the various types of dance in Indonesia. It also wants to become a platform for young and veteran dancers from various dance genres to meet, including traditional, contemporary and sports (pole) dances.
