Jakarta, GIVnews.com – Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao had on Wednesday (8/7) arrived in Semarang, Central Java, for an advertisement video shooting in the city. The commercial video is meant to promote Indonesian herbal and traditional medicine, locally known as jamu, which is also saleable in the Philippines.
This is Pacquiao's first visit to Indonesia. While in Central Java, Pacquio is scheduled to visit his compatriot and death-row inmate Mary Jane Veloso in Yogyakarta's detention center. The boxer is also scheduled to meet with President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo this week.
"I will visit her and the President this Friday. We will see what we can do," Pacquiao told reporters in Semarang.
Mary Jane's life was spared just a few minutes before the scheduled execution by firing squad early morning on 29 April of this year. Meanwhile, eight other convicted drug traffickers, including an Indonesian national, were executed on that morning.

Early last May, shortly before his mega fight with American boxer Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas, Pacquiao said that he was planning to visit Indonesia and meet with Mary Jane. Back then the boxer had also said that he wanted his visit to be official since he is also a congressman.
