Indonesian photography community Gallery Photography Indonesia (GPI) plans to hold a photo exhibition next year to showcase 15,000 photos displaying scenic landscapes of Indonesia.
GPI founder Jeffry Surianto said the initiative was part of the community's support for the government's "Wonderful Indonesia" tourism campaign.
"The exhibition will be the first and biggest of its kind nationally and we hope the event will receive recognition from the National Museum of Records for a photo expo involving the largest number of pictures," Jeffry said.
He said more than 60,000 members of the community were expected to participate in the exhibition.

"Currently, we have started inviting members to send in their best pictures. The photos will be judged by a jury for the exhibition," he said.
Jeffry hinted that the event scheduled for October would be held "in one of the country's finest tourist attractions outside Java".
Founded in 2011, the community, which was started from a Facebook group of photography lovers, has grown rapidly thanks to the graded learning paths for its members in 18 photography categories. Currently, the GPI has member photographers from all across Indonesia, with some members residing outside Indonesia. (dmr)
