How to watch Tuesday's solar exlipse no matter where you are

In Jakarta, we will see the sun first start to overlap with the moon at about 6:20 am on Wednesday morning.

For those who are not in the astronomical event's path, the San Francisco-based Exploratorium science museum will join NASA to present the solar eclipse live starting at 8 p.m.

"People are welcome to come to the facility to observe the solar eclipse".

People in Australia, South China, Southeast Asia, Hawaii and Alaska will also get to experience the eclipse though they'll only get the moon's second shadow, the penumbra.

But the solar eclipse will be visible only partially, over 50% in Bangkok, unlike in some cities of Indonesia, namely Palembang, Palu, Palangkaraya, and Ternate where total solar eclipse will take place and visible.

These measurements will improve the study of electrons in the sun's corona. This region is thought to be one of the most scientifically interesting areas of the sun - the goal is that by studying, scientists can learn about the acceleration of solar wind, how the corona is heated, and how clouds of solar material are made. Don't worry if you give it a miss, a robotic telescope service will be live streaming/recording the event.

Total solar eclipses were extremely important in early observations of the sun.

The eclipse is set to begin for those in the eastern worldwide date line at 23:19 GMT.

In an announcement on its website (http://planetarium.angkasa.gov.my), Angkasa said the next partial solar eclipse that Malaysians will witness will only be on Dec 26, 2019. However, the moon's orbit is elliptical, so it's not always the same distance away.

In India, the solar eclipse will be visible 15 percent in Agartala, 24.5 percent in Bhubaneswar, 11 percent in Guwahati, 18.5 percent in Kolkatta, 12 percent in Patna, 49 percent in Port Blair, 12 percent in Silchar.

On Tuesday at 1 p.m., solar scientists at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center will participate in an "Ask Me Anything" session on Reddit.
