Ten people are feared dead after their passenger plane disappeared over Indonesia.
TEMPO.CO, Makassar-Aviastar PK-BRN Twin Otter plane on the Makassar-Masamba route lost contact on Friday, October 2, at 2:25 pm.
Barata said the plane was carrying 10 passengers, including three crew members, one child and two infants.
Barata said a pilot is supposed to contact air traffic control after a plane has reached its cruising altitude and again to seek clearance to make a descent and approach its destination.
Rescue efforts will likely begin tomorrow, the head of Indonesia's search and rescue agency, Bambang Sulistyo, said.
Mr Abdul Munir, general manager of Makassar airport, told TVOne in a live interview the plane lost contact eight minutes after it took off.
The aircraft is operated by Aviastar airline, he said.
PT Aviastar Mandiri, operating as Aviastar is an Indonesian growing domestic passenger airline based in East Jakarta.
The Twin Otter aircraft is believed to have the capacity to fly for only about three hours.
Indonesia has a patchy aviation safety record and has had three major air crashes over the past year.
The incident comes 18 months after Malaysia Airlines plane MH370 went missing on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board and a wing from the aircraft was discovered on a remote Indian Ocean late this summer.
